Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar started cleanliness drive under solid waste management activities w.e.f. June 1, 2019. Campus maintenance and ecological committee took special initiative for segregation of solid waste in college campus under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra. Specially designed bins were installed to segregate institutional waste into green waste, paper waste and plastic waste. The students, teachers and non-teaching staff were made aware to make fall use of these bins, so that biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste could be disposed off safely. It was informed that Green waste (greens grass, leaves) could be converted into organic manner through vermicomposting whereas using vermitechnology plastic waste and paper waste could also be recycled. Prof. Jasreen Kaur, Prof. S.S. Bains, Dr. Jaswinder Kaur and Dr. Geetanjali Moudgil encouraged students and staff to make 100% segregation at the source. The drive will conclude on 5 June 2019.
