Birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi celebrated in LKC

PG Department of History, Lyallpur Khalsa College organised a patriotic event to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of Nation. With a great patriotic fervor students of the different departments participated in the essay writing and poster making competitions. The theme of the competitions underlined the ideals of Nonviolence, Satyagraha, Truth , Sarvodaya , Swachh Bharat , Communal Harmony etc. and their relevance in the present times. Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra presided over the function and paid homage to the Father of Nation. Dr.Suman Chopra, Head PG Department of History, welcomed the chief guest Principal Dr. Samra, staff members and the students. Dr. Chopra, in her welcome address, explained the role played by Gandhi ji in the Indian Freedom Struggle and inspired the students to follow the Gandhian principles of non-violance, self-sufficiency, communal harmony, simple living and truth to tackle the present day social problems. The chief guest Principal Dr. Samra, in his presidential address, motivated the students - the future of the nation- to follow the ideology of Mahatma Gandhi. He said that by following Gandhi jis doctrine they can play a very important role to bring about a social transformation within the country. He appreciated the efforts of the department of History and the student participants. Dr.Amandeep kaur, Dr. Karanbir Singh, Prof Manju Joshi, Prof Navjot Kaur, Prof Hargun, Prof Anu adjudged the art and literary works of the students. Principal Dr.Samra distributed the prizes to the winners. Prof. Sandeep Kaur, Prof. Suraj Bhagat and other staff members were also present on this occasion.
