PG Department of Mathematics, Lyallpur Khalsa College organized a special program as a part of the National Mathematics Day Celebrations dedicated to the birth anniversary of eminent mathematician Sriniwas Ramanujam. The program comprised of competitions based on Quiz, Debate, Poster Presentation, Rangoli, Model and Power Point Presentations. Dr. Jaspal Singh Aujla, Head of the Department of Mathematics, NIT Jalandhar, was the Chief Guest on the occasion and he was duly welcomed to the college with a bouquet of flowers by Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra and Dr. Santokh Singh, Head, PG Department of Mathematics. Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra discussed the potential of Mathematics in the modern age of science and technology. Dr. Deepak Grover (LPU) also presented views on the usage of Mathematics in routine life. The program saw an active participation of 350 students from 20 colleges of the region. The participant students in the various competitions were judged by Dr. Jaspal Singh Aujla, Dr. Deepak Grover, Dr. Dilbagh Singh, prof. Simranjit Kaur and Prof. Gurpreet Kaur.The stage was conducted by Prof. Palwinder Singh Bolina and Prof. Nitika Chugh whilst the vote of thanks was put forth by Dr. Harjit Singh. The occasion also saw the active contribution of a team lead by Dr. Dinkar Sharma including Prof. Pooja Sonik, Prof. Harpreet Kaur and Prof Ajay, Prof. Priyanka, Prof. Amritpal Singh, Prof. Manish Goel, Dr. Ajitpal Singh, Prof. Gurpreet, Prof. Kritika, Prof. Harbinder, Prof. Gurjinder and Miss Monia. DAV College, Jalandhar won the overall prize of competitions while HMV College, Jalandhar finished as the runners up.
