550th Gurupurab Celebrations at Lyallpur Khalsa College
The historic occasion of the 550th Gurupurab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji was duly paid respect to by virtue of an impressive respect laden function put together by the staff and students of Lyallpur Khalsa College. As a part of the program, Sehaj Path was held in the college Gurudwara Sahib followed by Kirtan recitation, according to the rich Sikh traditions, in the open surroundings of the college thereby adhering to the nature-connecting message conveyed by Guru Nanak to the humanity. Students from the Music department of the college, Manpreet Singh and Arvinder Singh, recited Kirtan based on the verses of Guru Nanak and Bhai Gurdas in their purest forms along with the use of traditional Kirtan instruments. The Kirtan performing students were honoured with Siropaos by Sardarni Balbir Kaur, President College Governing Council, Mr. Jaspal Singh Waraich Joint Secretary, Governing Council and College Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra. Speaking on the occasion, Principal of the College Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra said that the college is committed to move forward in the light of the precious teachings of Guru Nanak and the college would also continue to make every effort possible to mark this historic year of the 550th Gurupurab with more such initiatives, so that the staff and students can seek guidance and moral strength from the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Principal Dr Samra also thanked the overwhelming number of attendees during the entirety of the program. Keeping with the tradition, Guru ka Langar was served to one and all. Principals, Directors and Staff members of other institutions of KCL Group were also present on this occasion whilst the stage was managed by Dr. Harjinder Singh Sekhon.
