An extension lecture was conducted by the Centre for Historical Studies, Lyallpur Khalsa College to remember the 100 years of Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919. Prof. Rajiv Lochan from the Department of History, Punjab University was the main orator for this program and he was duly welcomed to the college by Dr. Suman Chopra, Coordinator, Centre for Historical Studies. In his message, College Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra, paid homage to the martyrs of the aforementioned tragedy that occurred 100 years ago and urged to the students to respect the freedom fighters of the nation. He also appreciated the efforts of The Centre for Historical Studies in this regard. Dr. Suman Chopra, in her address put forth a detailed historical background to the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and its wide ranging facets. In his extension lecture, Prof. Rajiv Lochan discussed the various dimensions of the events preceding and following the massacre ranging over 150 years and also answered the curious questions put forth by the students. Vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Jasreen Kaur, Dean Academic Affairs.
